Help Wanted – Weekend Farm Hand

Twig Farm is a small dairy and cheese making farm in West Cornwall, Vermont.We milk approximately 50 goats twice a day and produce our own farmstead cheese. We are looking for someone to milk and clean our barn on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons and, on those same days, help with goat kid care, setting up fences for rotational grazing, and other routine farm chores.

This is an hourly split shift position for approximately 16 – 20 hours a week. The hours are from 4AM-8AM, and from 3-7PM on Saturdays and Sundays. We would like a year commitment to this position.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has some experience milking goats or working with farm animals
  • Has some experience in food handling and sanitation
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree and a Driver’s License

This position requires being at our farm at 4 AM, on Saturday and Sunday mornings. , so we are looking for reliable candidates who don’t mind working early hours. The ability to lift 50 pounds is necessary, since farm work requires heavy lifting. Candidates must be able to accept input and constructive review of work performance. The ability to pay attention to detail and take initiative in working is important.

This position requires considerable washing of milk and creamery equipment, as well as an ability to follow clear protocols for milking, cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
